Aussie fans around the world rejoice!
YouTube sensations 5 Seconds of Summer have been selected by One Direction as the support act for their world tour.
The were hand picked by Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn and Nialler and will join the boys on the UK, USA, New Zealand and Australian legs of the tour, but will skip the rest of Europe.
5 Seconds of Summer are 4 teenage mates from Sydney’s western suburbs, who have fierce Twitter and Facebook support in Australia. Their song “Heartbreak Girl” is already racking up thousands of views on YouTube.
On 5SOS’s twitter, the announced:
“SO so SO so excited to go on tour & to play some new tunes of the album xx”
“We are joining the tour in the UK (including ireland), USA, Canada, Australia & NZ. we’re not doing the rest of europe sorry guys <3”
Nialler said:
“We discovered 5SOS on YouTube last year and we all knew straight away they were very special. We’re so excited to have them on the road with us and we know our fans are going to LOVE what these lads do,”
Apparently there is a brewing bromance between both bands, that has seen them challenge each other to a football match ( 1D slaughtered them). 5SOS was also invited to come and hang out with the 1D boys in London, where they were also planning on recording their debut album.
After playing to just 20 people, within 15 months they will be hitting the arenas with the biggest boy band in the world…talk about worlds apart!
Now get learning your new favourite boy band’s names. We’ve got Callum, Luke, Michael and Ashton between the ages of 16 and 18. Very cute, very talented & of course Australian!
Michael said:
“None of this has sunk in for us; it’s surreal to think we will be on the same bill as a band who are on such a world-wide scale,”
“When the guys first started talking to us about it, we thought they were joking.”
“And now I look at my calendar in my iPhone and it goes from `doing our thing, doing our thing, four shows at the O2 arena in two days! It’s crazy.”
