It’s nearly 2012 (in fact there’s just over 12 hours to go), and One Direction are now an established boyband, selling millions of records and making girls swoon at the merest glimpse of the boys.

With H,L,L,Z & N set to resume their UK tour in a few days time here’s a round-up of what they’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks.

Harry & Caroline Confirm Their Friendship

It’s no secret that Hazza & Cazza have been dating on-and-off for the last couple of months, and now Mr Styles has said he definitely has an eye for the older ladies – but still finds some cougars frightening.

Speaking with Fabulous magazine, he said: “I was in the park the other day and a woman ran up to me and asked for my autograph”. “She handed me a pen and I asked her if she had a piece of paper”. “She just looked at me and got out her boobs!”

Harry said he refused her request and ran off!

Talking about the attention he receives on a daily basis, he said: “What 17-year-old boy wouldn’t like it? It’s still really wierd but a lot of fun.”

Zayn Malik Vows to Give Up Smoking

Tut, tut Zayn, what are you playing at! Bad breath, smelly clothes, stained teeth, not to mention the negative health aspects. Give em up now!

Thankfully, Zayn has promised to give up the ciggies as part of his New Year’s resolutions. Talking to The Sun, he said: “My New Year’s resolution is definitely to quit smoking. I need to do it.”

The rest of the band are also trying to improve their health in 2012, with Niall saying: “I definitely need to use the gym more next year”.

Liam is a firm gym-goer and has been pressuring Niall to work out more, adding: “He never turns up, unless he’s hiding under the weight bench lifting 40k and I didn’t spot him”. Cheeky!

TOWIE’s Lauren Pope Fancies Liam

Hot on the heels of Caroline Flack, Lauren Pope has revealed that she fancies Liam Payne, and despite being more than a decade older than him, she said there’s a cougar inside her waiting to get her hands on the teenage heartthrob.

Speaking with the Daily Star, she said: “I would love to go out on a date with him!” “There could be a One Direction cameo in TOWIE.”

(Incidentally, Harry has recently spoke out saying he’s now single, though we don’t whether he’s just trying to deflect attention).

The 1D boys certainly don’t have any problems with the girls, but when it comes to letting somebody down gently, it seems Harry has got it sussed.

Speaking with Teen Now Magazine, the cheeky Holmes Chapel lad said “I told someone I was gay once.” “And I also gave Peaches Geldof” a fake number. She must hate me!”

He went on to say “If she’s reading this, say hello next time you see me. I might give you the right number!”

When asked the same question, Zayn answered with “If you’re not interested in a girl you have to be careful so you don’t come across as arrogant”. “Say you don’t want to ruin the friendship or whatever. If you’re not interested there’s no point leading someone on.”

Blimey, One Direction must be sick and tired of letting down girls gently, going off the number of fans who would give anything to get close to them!

Elsewhere, Kerry Katona has given her verdict on the ongoing relationship between the Stylester and the Flackster. Speaking with Star magazine, Kerry said: “Stop. That is so wrong. I just could’nt be s***ing someone who was going through puberty!” “If it’s a Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher sitatuion that’s different because they’re older. But Harry Styles is just a 17 year old boy, so in my eyes it’s just wrong. He’s not even allowed to drink yet!”

These comments from Kerry seem to contrast with her antics in the Big Brother house this year – going off her constant flirting with Lucien Laviscount!

Ok, you probably know everything there is to know about your favourite five boys, but what do you know about the huge US band Big Time Rush who One Direction are going on tour with next year.

Both groups will be hitting the road together from February next year, visiting major cities all across the USA, and the tour is proving to be an exciting pull for fans all over with ticket sales rocketing.

When Big Time Rush were asked what they thought about having 1D as their support act, Logan said: “We have a lot to learn about them!”. Another band member Kendal added: “I do know that they have a lot of dedicated fans and everyone in the states is really excited to see them. They’re going to be great to go on tour with.”

Speaking about their own music in particular, BTR commented “We can’t wait to go on the road for our ‘Better With U’ tour,” said Big Time Rush. “We are so excited to perform songs off our new album for our fans.”

The dreamy group visited the UK three times this year with gigs at Manchester Academy and Shepherd’s Bush Empire, with album signings at music stores often packed out.

BTR first rose to prominence in 2009 on a Nickelodeon TV show which has now been renewed for a third season, and tells the tale of four hockey players from Minnesota who are selected to form a boy band.

Comprising of four guys – Kendall Schmidt, Carlos Pena Jr, James Maslow and Logan Henderson – they released their debut album “BTR” in October 2010, and it peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 chart rundown, later going on to be certified gold. Their follow up album “Elevate” was released last month.

Fresh after their X Factor final exploits on the Saturday night show, both One Direction and JLS hit the town in style for Marvin’s birthday night out.

Harry, Niall and Zayn met up with Aston, JB and Marvin and partied at stylish nightspot Movida, accompanied by some beefy security guards.

According to sources, the boys were picking out the prettiest girls to come over into their V-VIP section, and at point there must have been approximiately 30 girls to the 4 boys!

Zayn and Perrie Split?

1D finished third in last year’s competition, but Little Mix went two places better and actually won it (didn’t you know?). Speaking recently, Perrie said “I don’t have time” for romance, going on to say “There are no boys for us. We’re going to be like nuns.” “It’s all about the music, the tour and then the album”.

Perrie and Zayn had reportedly been seeing each for two months after they met backstage during the live shows.

Fellow “muffins” Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne, have also hinted they may call time on any distracting romances in order to devote as much time as possible to the band.

One Direction and Dappy?

Dappy has previously spoken fondly of the 1D boys, and Liam Payne has now stated that they would love to work with the N-Dubz singer on their next album.

“No Regrets” took the number one spot away from “What Makes You Beautiful”, and it seems the whole band love Dappy’s style.

Well well well, make sure you tune into X Factor this weekend for an amazing treat. Supergroups JLS & One Direction are planning to sing on-stage together, performing a mix of two of their biggest tunes.

According to sources, both bands have been rehearsing a mash-up of “What Makes You Beautiful” and “She Makes Me Wanna”, commenting “It’s no secret that JLS & 1D have both been booked for the final – and we’re ratcheting things up a notch or two. Both groups thought it would be a great idea if they did a song together.

Current X Factor group Little Mix are favourites to win the show, and if they did would become the first band to do so. The final is to be staged at Wembley Arena in front of 10,000 fans, and it’s proving to be a night not to be missed.

In news that will come as a shock to 1D fans, and maybe a confirmation of their romance, Harry Styles was captured leaving the home of Caroline Flack yesterday morning at 9:30am.

Caroline apparently left the house a couple of hours later with a smile on her face, hiding behind her sunglasses (in the middle of winter!)

Harry is 15 years younger than Ms Flack, and not even old enough to drink yet. The pair supposedly met a few weeks back and shared a kiss, with Harry later denying this whilst saying she was “hot”.

“One Thing” is the brand new single from One Direction due to be released shortly, and rumoured to be sung on this weekends X Factor Final. It’s a brilliant track in it’s own right, but sounds even better stripped down and sung acousticly in the below video. We think Zayn stars in this and sounds fantastic. They’ve done it again. Following up on the back of a debut No.1 record and a subsequent No. 3 single, One Direction have gone straight to the top of the charts with “Wishing On A Star”, the 2011 X Factor charity song. Singing along with JLS and the current contestants including Amelia Lily, Little Mix and Misha B, the song is a cover of Rose Royce’s 1978 hit.

Olly Murs, an X Factor runner up himself, topped the album charts with “In Case You Didn’t Know”.

It has today been confirmed that One Direction will be appearing on the live final of X Factor along with Leona Lewis, Coldplay, Michael Buble and JLS.

The final is being held at Wembley Arena, and promises to be a great finale to this current series, with one of Amelia Lily, Marcus Collins, Misha B or Little Mix going on to take the crown.

Gary Barlow said: “This is the biggest final that the X Factor has ever done, and being at Wembley Arena for the first time in front of 10,000 people, with Coldplay performing, I can’t wait”.

Both 1D and JLS have already performed twice on this years X Factor, singing their own songs as well as the charity single “Wishing on a Star”.

Adele was rumoured to be booked for the final but has had to pull out due to her recent throat problems.

On the Saturday night of the final weekend, the act with the least votes will leave the competition with the two remaining contestants going on to the Sunday night extravaganza.

Would you believe it? If new stories are set to be confirmed, then our handsome chappy Zayn Malik is apparently dating Perrie Edwards from Little Mix!

They were spotted getting very close last weekend when both One Direction and Tulisa’s “little muffins” were both filming the video to “Wishing on a Star”. Will we soon be calling them “Zerrie”?

The news is set to disappoint fellow band member Niall Horan who has a massive crush on Perrie, and it seems that Zayn has been triumphant in winning Ms Edwards over. We hope you’re not too heartbroken Niall – there’s plenty more fish out there!

The hot couple are trying to keep a lid on their relationship for as long as possible and once the X Factor has finished they will see how things are looking.

Zayn has previously dated Rebecca Ferguson and was also rumoured to be seeing Cher Lloyd at one point. What a busy bunny he is!
