In news that won’t come as a shock to non-readers of NME, One Direction have been nominated for Worst Album AND Worst Band in their 2012 Awards.
The NME is famously pompous with its musical merits over the years, and previous winners of the worst album award include Robbie Williams (twice), Jonas Brothers (twice), and even James Blunt, but you’ll be surprised (or maybe not) to find out that Coldplay are also up for the worst album award this year. Yes.

It’s always a good sign of a bands popularity when they get nominated for awards such as this, so despite being up for Best British Single for “What Makes You Beautiful” in the 2012 Brit Awards, they are seen in bad light in the NME’s.
What next, a best acting role for iCarly? or perhaps a best dressed award for Harry or Zayn?

This video is something special. It’s good enough to be the official video for the song, but in fact its produced by a 1D fan! How amazing is this? The fan who has made this lives in Slovakia, so maybe the 1D boys should go over there and say thank you to all the Slovakian One Direction fans

Brit 1D fans rejoice, as the boys are set to arrive back on our soil in time for next weekend, as they’ve been booked in to appear on the next episode of Dancing on Ice, performing “One Thing”.
A source today said that security is set to be tripled, stating: “Producers are very concerned that thousands of fans will storm the studios. That cannot be allowed to happen during a live show.”
If you’ve been missing 1D for the last few days since they flew over to LA, then worry no longer as it seems they can’t stay away from us!
“One Thing” gets released on Monday 13th February (just in time for Valentines day) and the single comes complete with a brand new song called “I Should Have Kissed You.” Despite being available on download only, “One Thing” has already been in the UK Top 40 for 3 weeks running, boding well for a possible second No.1 hit.

One Direction have been overwhelmed by the amount of support they’ve received from American directioners, with crowds upon crowds gathering to get a glimpse our favourite five boys.
Now Katherine Schwarzenegger, the 22-year-old daughter of movie star come Californian Governer has announceed she thinks Harry is a cutie, tweeting: “Just watched my first One Direction video with my cousin and @Harry_Styles is a cutie indeed!”
Bandmate Louis Tomlinson was eyed doing a spot of sunbathing at the hotel pool, and it seems that 1D are enjoying their first few days in LA – so going by the fans reaction so far, who wouldn’t!

We’re a fan of statistics here at OneDirection.net, so we’ve compiled a list of how many Twitter followers each member has, along with the number of people that they follow, the number of Tweets sent, and finally how many lists each member is in.
Ok, let’s start with the follower stats:
Harry Styles: 1,703,682 Zayn Malik: 1,292,938 Louis Tomlinson: 1,279,326 Liam Payne: 1,268,763 Niall Horan: 1,206,440
Well, there’s quite a clear leader here. Our Hazza is way out in front with 1.7 million followers. Wowzers! The rest are fairly equal behind from 2nd to 5th, but currently Niall is propping up the rear. Each other member has over 1.2 million followers, but looking at these stats it won’t be long before Harry gets 2 million!
Right, moving onto the number of people each 1D member follows:

Again, we have a clear leader, but this time its Liam Payne who leads the way in being the friendliest member, following over 1500 people. Again its Mr Payne in first place, sending over 4,500 tweets since his account was created. Louis Tomlinson is in second place, with Niall, Harry, and finally Zayn coming in last – sending nearly a third the amount of Tweets that Liam has.

Backing up Harry’s claim to being the most popular member of One Direction are these stats, which put Harry in first place being listed over 15,000 times. Similar to the follower stats, there’s a fairly even spread from second to firth, so it seems the 1D love is given out evenly amongst the rest.
Overall, its clear to see that Hazza has a lot of fans, and is currently leading our Twitter stats. We’ll compile another list in a few months after they have finished touring America and completing their promotional duties over there. Will their US impact have an effect? Let’s see

You’ll already know that One Direction have landed a guest spot on mega Nickelodeon TV show iCarly, but we can reveal how their story will unfold below.
MTV News reports that 1D will appear in the forthcoming fith season, when Miranda Cosgrove, the main character, falls ill after coming home from a trip.
Miranda’s mood is made better by the news that One Direction will perform their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” on the show, but poor old Harry Styles catches her bug. Oh Harry!
However, the other 1D boys cotton on to the fact that Hazza is only playing sick to get some attention, and they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by saying that another character, Gibby, has joined the band.
We can’t wait to see it!

One Direction were shocked & surprised by the sheer number of US fans that waited to greet them in Los Angeles when they touched down at the LAX airport today.
The boys have arrived in America to prepare for their tour with Big Time Rush, and also to record their appearance on the hit Nickelodeon show iCarly.
US Marshall’s at the airport told them that it “wasn’t safe” to meet the fans, and both Harry & Niall tweeted to apologise.
Niall said:” “So sorry guys! US marshalls said it wasnt safe for us to come out! Thank you for comin to LAX to see us! We heard there was 600 of u! Love u.”
Harry tweeted: “Sorry that we couldn’t stop at LAX guys…the US Marshall’s said it wasn’t safe. We all wanted to come see you .x”
“What Makes You Beautiful” gets released next month in the USA, and coinciding with their tour, TV & radio appearances, momentum is gaining fast in their ambitions to break America.
The impact that 1D are making is even being compared to Beatlemania, a big ask for any group in the world. Will the “One Direction Infection” take over?

It’s the relationship that’s been the talking point of the whole nation for the past few months, but now it seems like its finally over.
Caroline Flack, the 32-year-old TV presenter has apparently been left heartbroken as Harry Styles called an end to their fledgling romance.
The timing of it couldn’t be more important as One Direction head off to American in preperation for their forthcoming “Better With You Tour” with Big Time Rush.
Keeping the relationship steady whilst the two were thousands of miles apart would have been a hard task, and a source told the Daily Mirror: “Harry is going off to America in a couple of days and he wants to be able to commit fully to making the band a success in the States.”
Today, Harry posted on Twitter: “Please know I didn’t dump Caroline. This was a mutual decision. She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know.”
Harry turns 18 on Wednesday and pals said he wasn’t ready for a long distance love affair.
One Direction will be in the US for a couple of months, but back in time for The Brit Awards.

USA fans, get ready, because One Direction are coming your way.
The boys debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” gets released to US contemporary hit radio stations on February 14th, with a full release shortly after.
The single has been certified platinum in New Zealand, Sweden and even double platinum in Australia, and broke a Sony Music Entertainment pre-order record selling 153,965 copies in the UK during its first week.
Big things are predicted for 1D in the USA, with many thinking they’ll be one of the first UK boybands in recent times to finally crack the big market.
With cute looks, great voices and charming personalities, One Direction are fast becoming the music sensation of the tennies (think 90′s, 00′s etc).
“Up All Night”, the debut album, will be released by Columbia Records in the USA on March 20th, and the “Better With U Tour” supporting Big Time Rush happens in February and March.
Some of the songwriters and producers who helped out on the album include Steve Mac, Rami Yacoub, RedOne, Ed Sheeran, Matt Squire and Kelly Clarkson, and it was the fastest-selling debut album on the UK Albums Chart during 2011.
With a HUGE and massively loyal fanbase already behind them, the US won’t know what has hit them next month.
America, be prepared for One Direction mania!

The One Direction boys have made a spoof video of themselves bodybuilding, in jovial preperation for the Brit Awards. Zayn & Louis have recently been seen arm-wrestling, and we know that Liam likes to keep fit, so it seems that judging from the pecs on some of the boys they do like to look after themselves.
They’re in a tough category with Adele, Ed Sheeran and others so it won’t be easy, but we’ve got our fingers crossed they’ll do it.

Later today, One Direction will be releasing a brand new video with exclusive clips from behind the scenes during the filming of “One Thing”. The vid will be released on the boy’s VEVO YouTube channel at from 4pm.
The new single will be released on February 12th, and contains a brand new B-side song called “I Should Of Kissed you”, and it sounds amazing.

Heartthrob Niall Horan was moved to tears by 1D’s gig in Dublin last night, and it had special memories for him, being at the same place where he originally auditioned for The X Factor back in 2010.
During the show, it was reported that Niall cried because he was so emotional and happy to be back performing in his home country.
After the show, Niall tweeted: “Ireland! Absolutely incredible is an understatement! Thank you for a lovely welcome home! Had goosebumps all night and a tear in my eye!”
Niall, from Mulllingar, Co Westmeath, managed to slip out of his hotel in the morning for a spot of shopping on nearby Grafton Street, and word quickly spread that the boys were staying at the hotel, with security having to be gathered in order to keep the hordes of young girls at bay!

Aston from JLS plumped for Harry (can we please all stop fancying Harry! spread some love round the other members too), but only if he looked like Mila Kunis.
JLS were talking with Jamie East (of Big Brother fame), whilst promoting their new song for Sport Relief 2012, which Oritse reckons is a right good “anthem”.
Marvin said: “We have been working alongside Sport Relief and Comic Relief for the last couple of years now and we knew that we were going to be working with Sport Relief this year so we penned Proud and we thought that it would be fantastic to put forward as a song for the charity.”
Going back to which member of 1D you would fancy (if you were a boy), we reckon we’d go for Zayn (because he’s got fit eyes), or Louis (because he makes us laugh). Do you agree?

Ok, it’s only for 2 seconds, but Hazza is featured in ginger Ed’s new video for his latest single “Drunk”.
The clip appears to be filmed backstage at one of Ed’s concerts, and shows Harry chatting & laughing along. Ed wrote “Moments” for One Direction which features on the limited Yearbook CD edition of “Up All Night”, and it looks like they must be good pals.

Not long now till 1D go on their highly anticipated debut US tour with fellow boyband Big Time Rush.

Here are the boys singing “Moments” (written by Ed Sheeran) live at the Manchester O2 Apollo. “Moments” is one of the extra tracks on the Limited Yearbook Edition of Up All Night. This song is one of our faves on the album as it’s so emotional. Ed Sheeran recently said on Twitter that “It’s about a girl that died and the boy committed suicide because he cant live without her”.

One Direction have made their biggest jump yet towards making it big in the USA.
The song clocked up more than 5 million views in the first 5 days and thrust 1D into it’s first entry on the US chart.
No songs have been officially released in the USA yet, and the fact 1D are already charting in the Social 50 chart is a hugely positive sign of things to come.
Could our boys be the first UK boyband in recent times to score a top 10 hit in the Billboard Hot 100? (the equivalent of the UK Top 40).

Well not fully naked ala the recent Harry pics (which Harry has recently denied are him), this time Mr Malik has posted a pic of himself on Twitter showing a quite magnificent six-pack! Zayn, we are impressed!
The photo posted appears to have been signed by a fan and shows Zayn posing (with a few well-placed shadows we admit).

In the last few days, One Direction have been all the way up to Scotland, performing in Glasgow at the Clyde Auditorium, before coming back down to Liverpool, Newcastle, and tonight in Blackpool at the Opera House.
There are six more dates left before the boys head off to the USA for their tour with Big Time Rush, so here’s a couple more reviews to keep you up-to-date with how their UK tour is going.

”It wasn’t an earthquake that registered the city on the Richter scale shortly before 9pm last night, but the roaring and stamping of ‘Directioners’ as their idols took to the stage. They may have opened with ‘Na Na Na’ but it was ‘Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’ from their thousands of fans. Like other X-Factor runners-up Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis are enjoying more fame and adulation than other previous winners.”

” ‘ALREET Pet!’ chanted Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn and Louis, as a brief moment of silence cut through the wall to wall screams at Newcastle City Hall last night. Manchester based Key 103 have signed up 1D to host their own shows, live on air, starting this Sunday!
Each member will take turns in hosting their own show, meaning we get five continuous weeks of 1D amazement. As well as playing their favourite songs, they’ll also be revealing just what goes on in the band.
Zayn is first up this Sunday (22nd), and speaking with Key 103 he said: “What a way to start 2012 – getting our own radio show! We’re really excited to get on air and pick the playlist!”
Liam Payne will be hosting his show on the 29th, followed by Niall on February 5th. Louis Tomlinson takes over on February 12th, before finally we get good old Hazza on February 19th.

They’re the five boys that are on everyone’s lips at the moment, and they seem to be having the time of their lives.
Speaking to “We Love Pop” magazine, Niall opened up about the pressures of fame, saying “There are a lot of expectations for us to do well. The music industry moves so fast you have to be on your toes.”
He went on further to say “We’re lucky because we’ve got a good fan base, but if they don’t like our music, how long is that going to last?”
We don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about Mr Horan – your music’s great, you look great, and we just can’t get enough of you!
Elsewhere, Rebecca Ferguson admitted that her brief relationship with Zayn Malik didn’t quite feel right, and she broke off the relationship because it was not working for her.
