He is already a firm favourite with British fans, but Olly Murs has taken on the daunting task of cracking the American market, with the help of One Direction of course!
Murs had recently been the supporting act on the US leg of the ‘Up All Night’ tour and he was pleasantly surprised with how well he was embraced by US Directioners.
Speaking to MTV news, the Heart Skips A Beat singer said:
“It’s brilliant. It wasn’t hard. One Direction’s fans, they literally found out I was supporting them, they went online, found out who I was, what songs I’ve done, my videos and then I walked out [at the] first gig in Detroit [and] everyone’s just crazy. And I was like, ‘This is insane. They don’t even know who I am. How could they be doing this?”
It just shows what a difference online media can make to someone’s career, even across the pond.
