Unless you have been taking some time out from the world and living under a rock, you would know that One Direction made a quick visit to poverty stricken parts of Ghana last month.
They came back as enlightened individuals and described it as a “great experience” and one which had a profound effect on the boys, particularly Nialler who tweeted tons about the trip.
However, leaving behind the privileged west where fans regularly camp outside their hotel rooms, it would seem that many people in Ghana don’t really know who One Direction are…let alone ever heard their music.
When asked if they had been recognised on the trip, Harry Styles replied immediately with:
“No, not really!”
“There were a few lads that asked if we were Westlife which we thought was quite funny!”
Harry then responded with a pretty hilarious statement:
“We played football with some guys and they were shouting ‘Westlife, Westlife, Westlife!”
Obviously there are only 4 members in Westlife, but they have actually now officially disbanded, leaving One Direction as the only band associated with Simon Cowell. Well, if you don’t count Union J that is.
It must have been a nice change to feel a bit invisible, as opposed to being madly chased and pursued by crazed fans around the world.
But anything is worth it for a good cause – which reminds us, have you pre-ordered your copy of ‘One Way Or Another’ yet?
