Being a fan of One Direction really does have it’s perks doesn’t it?!
Emily Baker, a 16 year old GCSE student from Lincolnshire decided that she would post a short story called “Loving The Band” on a fanfiction website called Movellas, which is where avid, up and coming freelance writers can publish their work to an audience of some 30,000 keen readers.
Basically the story in question was based on 1D and it is a love story that involved the protagonist meeting and falling for members of the band. Soon, readers of the story begged for a sequel until it became one of the most popular stories on the website.
The Directioner has scored herself a publishing deal with Penguin, which is a great moment for young adult writers in the UK.
“I wrote my original novel on Movellas at the time that I was taking my GCSEs, so I had to balance my studies with writing.”
“It was hard work, but it all paid off when everybody on Movellas was so supportive of what I was doing, which just urged me to continue writing chapter after chapter.”
Emily added:
“I am very excited to be published by Penguin and it also helps that everyone there is so lovely!”
She went on to say:
“I don’t really have a favourite One Direction boy. I like them all,” she confessed. “I’ve still never seen them live because the tickets always sell out so fast.”
“I’d really love them to read my book when it comes out, though! That would be nice.”
If you guys want to read the novel, it will be published as an ebook on the first of November and we’re sure there will be many more books to come from such a talented young writer!
