It’s been a busy two months for the five members of One Direction – and they’ve simply not stopped! Whether it’s TV appearances, book signings, radio talks, tour announcements or a number one debut single, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have been working as hard as they possibly can to give you, the fans as much entertainment as possible.
From the first time we heard their debut song played, to the release of their latest song “Gotta Be You”, and the surprise of a Christmas and New Year tour, the boys have been catapulted into the limelight.
This time last year they were rehearsing for their weekly performances on The X Factor – ultimately making it through to the final before finishing in third place – whilst now that task has been given to this year’s contestants – with The Risk taking on the chance of being the first ever group to win the competition.
Will The Risk do better than our boys did? Who knows, but 1D have certainly done as well as JLS so far when it comes to living up to their early hype and expectations.
What Makes You Beautiful Reaches No.1 in the Charts
Who can forget the first time you heard “What Makes You Beautiful” on Radio 1, as played by Scott Mills back in August? What a song it was (and still is), and what a fantastic first tune to be released. It’s one of the most catchiest tunes we’ve heard all year and broke Sony Music pre-sales records before going on to hit the top-spot in the UK charts. It is the fastest selling single this year.
One Direction Tour “Up All Night” Announced
In a surprise announcement, we were told that 1D were going to be a doing a massive series of Christmas and New Year gigs across the country, taking in Wolverhampton, Manchester, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Plymouth, Nottingham, Brighton, London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Blackpool, Sheffield, Cardiff, Dublin and Belfast – in that order! Phew, that’s a lot of touring! Most of the tickets have sold out, but there’s still a few left so if you want to go and see the boys, then make sure you don’t miss out.
Gotta Be You Played on Radio 1
After the smash success of One Direction’s first single, a lot was expected from their follow-up. Making a change from the catchy pop of WMYB, “Gotta Be You” is the first ballad to be taken from the forthcoming album. Though it lacks the instant appeal of the first, the reaction from the fans has been equally as huge, and this song also looks set to go straight to No.1 in the charts. Not many bands have had two consecutive debut number one hits so if this is a sign of things to come, 1D are going to be an unstoppable force!
One Direction Album “Up All Night” Released for Pre-Sale
Boasting 13 sure-fire hits, “Up All Night” is the hotly anticipated first album from our favourite five chaps, and contains the first two singles, as well as eleven more songs for the future. You might have already heard “Na Na Na” as the B-side from “What Makes You Beautiful”, but even this isn’t featured on the album, so there’s certainly no shortage of creativity in the 1D song-writing department. The full album listing is as follows: (which one’s do you think will be your favourites?)
What Makes You Beautiful
Gotta Be You
More Than This
Up All Night
Tell Me A Lie
Everything About You
Save You Tonight
Stole My Heart
The album is released on November 21st and is already selling very well indeed. You can buy it as a download, standard CD, or a super-special Limited Yearbook Edition – which contains two extra tracks, photos, facts and plenty of inside info which isn’t available on the standard album edition.
2012 and the Future of One Direction
What does the future hold for Liam, Harry, Zayn, Louis and Niall? Well judging from the fans they have already, we hope they’re used to being mobbed everywhere they go! Think how big Justin Bieber is, and multiply that by five! One Direction are set to go worldwide, and be the first big boyband from the UK to conquer the USA.
From music, books, calendars, dolls, clothes, concert tickets and many, many more TV & radio appearances to come, 1D are looking to be one of the hottest brands around, and if in five or ten years time they go on to have a great, long & sustained career, you’ll remember that you were here first, supporting them right in the beginning of their fantastic careers.
